  | | The outrageous and wildly popular Blues Brothers got their start through regular appearances on Saturday Night Live in the mid to late 1970's, when the show was still young and at the peak of its popularity, and starred the likes of John Belushi, Dan Aykroyd, Chevy Chase, and Gilda Radner. John Belushi and Dan Aykroyd play, respectively, Jake and Elwood Blues -- the Blues Brothers -- who represented the epitome of "cool" in their sharp black suits, dark sunglasses and black, pork pie hats, mysteriously dropping knowing hints to the rest of us now and then that they were on a "mission from God".
